About the role
Important Looking Pirates (ILP) is a multiple VES and Emmy award winning studio and have created animation and visual effects for some of the greatest storytellers. With amazing projects such as Lost In Space, Mandalorian, Westworld, Black Sails, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Star Wars: The Last Jedi in their backlog, they can proudly say that they are one of the most successful studios in the world.
As a Fullstack Developer at ILP, you will be part of the R&D team and support the VFX production with state-of-the-art solutions and tools based on the latest technologies and innovations. You will have the opportunity to explore different skills, and they will find the best fit for you and the department as a whole. Your responsibilities:
- Develop services, applications, and tools to support the VFX production and management and administration systems.
- Write modern, well-structured, and easy to read python code targeting many different systems.
- Be part of code reviews and discussions around coding standards, best practices, etc.
- Use data analysis to help troubleshoot issues in a wide variety of systems.
- Create reports based on data analysis that are used by other departments as a base for decision-making.
- Using data from different sources to find correlations can be used to understand shortcomings in their systems better.
- Perform maintenance and software integrations for existing systems by using monitoring systems and metrics.
- Stay updated with industry trends and innovations and use this knowledge when implementing new systems.

We believe you have a pretty broad background, preferably with experience from working in a larger company with a tech service focus. You are comfortable with both back and frontend, and you know a few different programming languages. Python is ILP’s primary programming language, but if you don’t know it yet and are keen to learn, that’s fine with us.
You have:
- Proven work experience as a Fullstack Developer, Software Engineer or Software Developer.
- Broad experience and understanding of computer systems and programming languages such as Relational Databases (SQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis), ElasticSearch (Kibana), Python
Preferably, you also have experience in C++, Rust, JavaScript (TypeScript) and/or Bash.
Being located in Sweden, Germany or the UK, or comfortable with moving to one of these locations, is required.
